I grew up in South Africa, and studied at The College of Art & Design in Johannesburg. I worked as an Art Director and Graphic Designer in advertising agencies there before moving to Washington D.C. and then the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania region, where I now live.

As I pursue my illustration career, with particular interest in children's book illustration, my goal is to capture the essence of childhood—uninhibited. Childhood is so short, and I am committed to doing my part to make it as rich and fabulous as possible. I accept commissions for commercial illustration, web site illustration and design and of course, children's books!

I am a member of The Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and currently serve as the Illustrator Coordinator for the Eastern Pennsylvania region. I won the SCBWI WOOP (Work of Outstanding Progress) Award in 2015 for an historical fiction book currently in progress, and was runner-up in the Tomie dePaola Illustration Award in 2014 and 2015.

There are many illustrators whom I admire. Some are Raymond Briggs, Brian Froud, Alan Lee, Lisbeth Zwerger, Shaun Tan, Mary GrandPré, David Wiesner, Pamela Zagarenksi and Laurel Long. I find endless inspiration for my paintings in my young daughter and my cats, past and present.

Creativity takes courage.
